With the theme being In America: A Lexicon of Fashion, attendees of the 2021 Met Gala might focus on any aspect of American culture.

The Met Gala has traditionally been one of the most well-received fashion events, since it allows celebrities to experiment with unique party makeup that they rarely get the chance to wear at other red carpets.

The special Met Gala 2021 was more bustling than the previous years because the stars haven't "dressed up" in a long time since the global epidemic began. Follow LIVE Magazine as we appreciate the most stunning makeup trends that appeared at this star-studded fashion event.

Blue and green eye makeup are adored by many

Gigi Hadid, a mother of one, experimented with blazing red hair. She totally rocked a high ponytail accompanied by the Prada hairpin resembling a crown.

The supermodel's blue eye makeup stood out against her red hair and matches perfectly with her charming blue eye. She went for a nude lip color to enhance her glamorous look.

Maisie Williams' appearance in a jet-black dress inspired by the film "The Matrix" was one of the most memorable images of the Met Gala 2021. Makeup artist Yumi Lee used olive green eyeshadow and gothic rich plum lipstick for the "Game of Thrones" star. The most outstanding feature of her look was an elegant wrapped up hairstyle which appeared like a work of art, this unique work was done by the talented hairstylist Akki Shirakawa.

Chanel Iman, a legendary supermodel, completely stood out with a marvellous golden-bronze dress and big golden earrings, her look was accentuated by a charismatic sea-toned eyeshadow.

Lupita Nyong'o was another female celebrity who was promoting the blue-eyed makeup trend on the Met Gala red carpet in 2021. The actress from “12 years a slave” went for a dark blue eye tone to match her Versace dress which was distinguished by a mix of beaded detailing and denim panels.

She chose a curly hairstyle that is well-known for emphasizing people of color's natural curls. For many years in the US, people of color were obliged to straighten their hair rather than keeping their original features. In 2021, the fight for racial equality gave a chance for these cultural hairstyles to be appreciated.

Billie’s old-Hollywood-inspired look

Fans were taken aback by Billie Eilish's feminine appearance in Oscar de la Renta's nude pink gown. She chose a platinum blonde wavy bob hairstyle inspired by Hollywood beauty legends such as Marilyn Monroe and Grace Kelly. The 19-year-old pop star showed up with a bold yet delicate eyeliner and a natural nude lip color.

Rihanna made her look a statement

Rihannah continued to steal the show on the red carpet this year with her flawless beauty and charisma. Hector Espinal, Fenty Beauty's global makeup artist, created her fashionable smokey purple eyes and alluring red lips. The singer wore several makeup products from her own Fenty Beauty cosmetics brand.

“Well, I wanted a look that seemed very powerful, yet feminine, yet like a Black hoodie, which is usually the thing that we are incriminated by as Black people” she shared with journalists the inspiration for her look.

Cara Delevingne chose a wild red eyeshadow

On the red carpet of Met Gala 2021, strong eye color was a prominent beauty trend. Cara Delevingne made an appearance with mesmerizing red eye shadow. The model wore a white bulletproof vest with the words 'Peg the Patriarchy', her outfit was completed with white cigarette trousers, shoes, and wet hair for her statement on women's rights, which was created by Dior's Maria Grazia Chiuri.

‘It’s about women empowerment, gender equality — it’s a bit like, “Stick it to the man”.’ Cara explained to the event’s correspondent.
